Food Technology Teacher

The successful Food Technology Teacher will join a supportive team and have the opportunity to deliver practical and engaging lessons that help students develop valuable skills for further education, employment and everyday life. We are looking for an enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher with strong subject knowledge who can engage students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons covering practical food preparation, nutrition and food science, while ensuring that all practical activities are safe, well organised and accessible to students of different abilities.

This role is due to start in November 2026 and will continue until March 2027. Job Role Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4 Teach students practical food preparation, nutrition, food science and healthy eating Adapt teaching and resources to support students of different abilities Maintain strong behaviour management and high expectations throughout lessons Assess student work and monitor progress, providing appropriate feedback Ensure practical classrooms are safe, clean and well organised Follow food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times Develop positive working relationships with students, colleagues and parents Contribute to the wider work of the Food Technology and Design Technology department Required Skills and Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching Food Technology within a UK Secondary School Strong knowledge of Food Technology, nutrition and practical food preparation Good understanding of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum Confident classroom and behaviour management skills Ability to plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons Commitment to creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment Passion for helping students develop their knowledge, confidence and practical skills What We Offer Pay from £174.71–£240.70 per day, equating to £34,068–£46,937 per annum based on working five days per week for a full school year, dependent on experience (M1–M6) Holiday Pay – 12.07% of your day rate accrued into your holiday pot if you opt in Pension contributions Free KCSIE-compliant Safeguarding and Prevent Duty Training Refer a Friend bonus scheme Regular contact and support from your dedicated Flourish Education consultant Location This Food Technology Teacher role is based in Rednal, South Birmingham, and is easily accessible from Northfield, Rubery, Longbridge, Kings Norton, Bartley Green, Quinton, Frankley, Bromsgrove and surrounding areas.
