Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician IV to join our Facilities Maintenance team in Des Moines, IA! Typical hours: Monday-Friday, 1st shift; overtime and hours may vary based on customer demand. The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for day-to-day upkeep of the office building, including, but not limited to; fixing minor issues, inspecting building systems, and ensuring a comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
This position will provide expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role. Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot industrial facility equipment and systems other equipment as required. Responsibilities: Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventive maintenance actions.
General Repairs: Patch drywall, paint walls, fix doors, replace ceiling tiles, and repair office furniture. Plumbing Maintenance: Fix leaky faucets, clear clogged drains, and service restroom fixtures. Electrical Upkeep: Replace light bulbs, change ballast, test emergency lights, and fix minor wiring issues. HVAC Support: Change air filters and check heating and cooling units for normal operation.
Routine Inspections: Walk through the facility regularly to spot safety hazards or maintenance needs. Vendor Coordination: Meet and oversee outside contractors for major repairs like elevator or specialized electrical work. Inventory Management: Stock cleaning supplies, tools, and replacement parts Communicates noncompliance concerns to ensure corrective actions have taken place. Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical systems control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards. Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lock-out/tag-out procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work. Perform regular preventive and corrective maintenance of Kitchen, including Ice Machines Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent. Four years of maintenance experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience Additional Information: Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location. This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules. Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher. Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
