Our two-year salaried teacher training programme offers a unique opportunity to work in a school, earn a salary and develop the practical skills and confidence needed to become a qualified teacher.
You’ll spend both years working within the same school, allowing you to build strong relationships with pupils and staff while gaining a genuine understanding of school life. Year 1 – Cover Supervisor Your first year is designed to give you a strong foundation in the classroom before progressing into formal teacher training. As a Cover Supervisor, you will: Supervise classes in the absence of the usual teacher Deliver prepared lessons and learning activities Support pupils with their work and development Develop effective classroom management skills Build positive relationships with pupils Work alongside experienced teachers and school staff Gain experience across different year groups and abilities Develop your confidence in managing a classroom Gain a realistic insight into the responsibilities of a teacher This first year provides valuable hands-on experience and helps you understand what it is really like to work in a school before taking the next step into teacher training.
Year 2 – Trainee Teacher Following your first year, you’ll progress into formal teacher training, completing your PGCE and working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). During your second year, you’ll take on increasing responsibility for planning and delivering lessons while continuing to receive support and mentoring. You will develop your skills in: Lesson planning and effective lesson delivery Assessment and monitoring pupil progress Classroom and behaviour management Differentiation and inclusive teaching Supporting pupils with different needs Developing engaging learning activities Reflective practice and professional development Working effectively with colleagues, parents and the wider school community By the end of the programme, you’ll have gained substantial classroom experience alongside your formal teaching qualification.
