We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Hair & Beauty Instructor to join a supportive SEN school environment, helping students develop practical vocational skills, confidence, independence and employability. The Role As our Hair & Beauty Instructor, you will deliver engaging, hands-on vocational learning that combines practical industry skills with essential theory. You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve their potential. Working closely with education, therapy and pastoral teams, you will help pupils develop not only vocational competencies but also the confidence, resilience and life skills needed for success beyond school.

Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging Hair, Barbering and Beauty lessons tailored to individual learning needs and abilities. Provide high-quality vocational learning that meets qualification standards while remaining accessible and motivating. Support pupils in developing practical industry skills, employability knowledge, independence and self-confidence. Assess learner progress, celebrate achievements and provide constructive feedback to encourage continued development.

Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group support to help pupils achieve personal learning goals. Contribute to the development and improvement of the Hair & Beauty curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, inspiring and industry-focused. Support the coordination of vocational programmes, including opportunities for off-site learning and work-related experiences where appropriate. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across education, therapy and pastoral teams to maximise pupil outcomes. Contribute to progress reviews, reports, curriculum planning and wider school development initiatives. Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion in all aspects of your work. About You We are looking for someone who: Has a passion for Hair, Barbering and Beauty and enjoys inspiring young people.

Holds relevant Hair & Beauty qualifications or has substantial industry experience. Has experience teaching, training, coaching or mentoring others (desirable but not essential). Is patient, resilient and committed to supporting young people who may face barriers to learning. Can adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of individual needs and learning styles. Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Has excellent communication and organisational skills. Is confident monitoring progress and maintaining learner records. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Is eager to develop professionally and contribute to the wider life of the school.
