Head of Regulation

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge. We are seeking an exceptional Head of Regulation to lead regulatory strategy, assurance and engagement for Cambridge English. About the role Working closely with teams across Cambridge English, senior leaders and regulators, you will be the principal adviser on regulatory matters, developing and promoting understanding of regulatory requirements to maintain confidence in Cambridge English's compliance position and recognised status as an awarding organisation.

You will provide independent challenge and expert guidance, support Cambridge English's Responsible Officer, and maintain constructive relationships with regulators including Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA. This is a highly visible role, offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making and play a critical part in safeguarding the reputation and integrity of one of the world's leading assessment organisations.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include: Leading Cambridge English's regulatory strategy, ensuring regulatory requirements are embedded into decision-making and business processes. Providing oversight and assurance of Cambridge English's regulatory compliance position, including chairing the Regulatory Compliance Board and supporting senior governance committees. Leading compliance evaluation and regulatory reporting processes, using data and insight to identify trends, evaluate business performance and support continuous improvement.

Building regulatory capability across the organisation through guidance and training. Leading and developing a high-performing Regulation Team, providing trusted expertise, constructive challenge and support to colleagues across Cambridge English. Representing Cambridge English in regulatory discussions, industry forums and consultations. This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location.

You will have held previous roles where you have exercised high levels of autonomous judgement - making rational decisions while demonstrating strategic perspectives. You will bring strong business awareness, diplomacy and excellent communication skills, together with the ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear, practical advice. Equally important will be your ability to lead and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of regulatory accountability and continuous improvement.
