St Johns Medical Centre are seeking an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant on a full time basis. You will assist the GP's and nursing team to deliver safe, high quality primary care services to our patients., Undertaking clinical tasks such as BP, height, weight. NHS health checks ECG's Venepuncture Carry out simple health screenings and observations. Chaperone patients during examinations and procedures.
Manage stock levels and order clinical supplies when required. Ensure clinical rooms remain well stocked and compliant with infection control standards., Job descriptionJob responsibilities Clinical Duties Undertake NHS Health Checks. Measure and record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight and BMI. Carry out ECG recordings. Perform new patient health checks. Undertake wound care and simple dressings following appropriate training.
Carry out simple health screenings and observations. Assist with chronic disease monitoring clinics. Chaperone patients during examinations and procedures. Prepare consulting and treatment rooms before and after clinics. Ensure clinical equipment is cleaned, maintained and calibrated in accordance with infection prevention and control policies. Patient Care Provide high standards of compassionate care to patients.
Promote healthy lifestyles and support patients with smoking cessation, weight management and general wellbeing advice. Support patients to understand health conditions and treatment plans. Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times. Respond appropriately to patient concerns and escalate clinical issues when necessary. Administrative Responsibilities Accurately record all clinical information within the patient's electronic medical record.
Process pathology samples safely and correctly. Manage stock levels and order clinical supplies when required. Ensure clinical rooms remain well stocked and compliant with infection control standards. Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives. Assist with recall programmes for chronic disease management and screening. Infection Prevention and Health & Safety Adhere to all infection prevention and control policies.
Ensure safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps. Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment. Report incidents, accidents or significant events in line with practice procedures. Comply with all health and safety legislation and practice policies. Professional Responsibilities Work within the scope of competence and seek advice when appropriate. Maintain professional registration where applicable.
Participate in mandatory training and continuing professional development. Attend practice meetings and contribute to service improvement. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR, NHS guidance and Practice policies. Work collaboratively with GPs, Nurses, Reception Staff, Administrators and the wider Primary Care Team. GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent experience.
Experience working within a healthcare setting. Phlebotomy qualification/experience., Previous experience working in General Practice or Primary Care. Experience undertaking ECGs. Experience carrying out NHS Health Checks. Knowledge of chronic disease management. Experience using Emis Web Awareness of CQC standards and infection prevention and control procedures. St Johns Medical Centre is located in the market town of Altrincham within the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester.
We have a clinical team of 9 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GP's, 4 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA's & 1 Phlebotomist, all supported by a large reception and admin team.
