Healthcare Support Worker

As a member of the nursing team in an enhanced role you will support and closely work with registered nurses to deliver a high standard of care to patients in a caring and safe environment. To work as part of the wider ward team in developing and maintaining services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area. To maintain the dignity and privacy of all patients and respect their right to confidentiality.

To review progress with ward manager and team leader at regular intervals and through appraisal process. Understand own level of responsibility and accountability in relation to registered staff. Understand own level of responsibility, scope of practice and accountability in relation to registered staff. All policies must also be adhered to at all times., As a member of the nursing team, you will assist registered members of staff to deliver a high standard of care to patients in the ward/clinical area demonstrating compassion, kindness and sensitivity.

To share learning, skills, and knowledge within the ward and with patients and carers to ensure best practice is maintained. To demonstrate literacy and numeracy. Willing to undertake self-development activities to improve clinical effectiveness. Desirable criteria Evidence of Level 2 Diploma or Apprenticeship in Health related subject or willing to work towards Evidence of the Care Certificate and understanding of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social care workers in England., Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.

Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients and always striving to improve on what you do through change and innovation. E Able to undertake specific procedures involving physical skills and prolonged moderate physical exertion commensurate with practice area and level of competence. Desirable criteria Experience of the NHS and /or health care requirements Knowledge of personal care and related procedures, Flexible approach to shift patterns and unit needs which may involve working in different areas or cross site working Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
