We have great opportunity for Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) to join our teams in Theatres and Inpatient ward areas. We are looking for Individuals who are motivated, passionate about healthcare, and want to deliver care with empathy, supporting patients and their families.

Whether you are new to healthcare or an experienced Healthcare Support Worker, we have a clear onboarding framework to support you to settle into your new role, complete the Care Certificate via our HCSW onboarding programme, local competencies, and development to support your growth and progression. Our current focus is to recruit to areas that include Theatres: working in recovery, anaesthetic and scrub areas Trauma wards Oncology Day Treatment Day Surgery Unit Medical Wards Sobell House (End of life care) Successful candidates will be appointed at either Band 2 or Band 3, based on their qualifications, experience, and interview performance.

Candidates appointed to a linked Band 2/3 role must successfully complete the HCSW Onboarding Programme, Trust probation, Care Certificate, local competency assessments, and obtain manager approval before progression to Band 3 can be considered., As the Healthcare Support Worker you will: Provide personal care for our patients, including washing, dressing, toileting and assisting with mobilising and feeding Assist registered members of staff to deliver a high standard of care to patients in the ward/clinical area demonstrating compassion, kindness, and sensitivity.

Be able to demonstrate the ability to put patients at the heart of what you do and recognising different needs by encouraging a spirit of support, integrity, respect and teamwork. Work as part of the team, under the supervision of trained nurses, assisting with delivery of planned health care, to meet physical, psychological, and social needs of the patients. Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

In Theatre Areas Provision of a dignified and safe perioperative environment for patients, colleagues and visitors Contribution to and participation in the team work of the combined medical, surgical and allied health professional team To transport conscious & unconscious patients between all acute care areas, including radiology, wards and operating theatres always ensuring their safety and dignity.

To participate as a member of the operating theatre team, assisting in providing a safe and clean environment to receive patients during the perioperative episode. To be responsible for the decontamination / disinfection of reusable medical devices and medical equipment., Ensuring all areas within the suite are clean, tidy and that adequate stock levels are maintained. Cleaning, preparation and positioning of theatre equipment, furniture and operating lights according to theatre schedules and local policy.

Checking, connecting, preparing and providing equipment and supplies to registered theatre personnel during patients peri-operative stay. Supporting registered theatre personnel by opening packs in a sterile fashion and manoeuvring equipment as required. Assisting with the moving and positioning of the conscious and unconscious patients in preparation for surgery and/or treatment, ensuring that any intravenous infusions, drains or catheters are appropriately positioned.

Supporting and re-assuring patients during local anaesthetic procedures. Completing all relevant documentation including patient notes/EPR, Theatre registers and care plans. Remove clinical waste, linen and sharps within theatres and prepare for collection, being aware of local health and safety policies and procedures. Clean theatres, recovery and corridors as required daily, observing the Trust Infection Control Policy and take special precautions where required.
