This position blends OR time, surgical assisting, and floor coverage , with a strong preference for candidates with robotics experience .
This is a great opportunity for surgical APPs looking for flexibility now with potential full-time work through the end of the year . Schedule & Coverage Shift Options: 3x12s, 4x10s, or 5x8s (flexible depending on dates) Core Hours: Day shifts (starting as early as 7:00 AM) Summer Coverage Dates: 6/9–6/11 7/1–7/3 (OR closed 7/3 – call + rounding support) 8/6–8/8 8/21–8/28 (flexible scheduling options) Optional Call Opportunities: Weekend Call: Fri 5 PM – Mon 7 AM (1–2 weekends/month) Weeknight Call: ~4 shifts/month (5 PM – 7 AM) Weekend rounding: 8 AM – 12 PM Clinical Responsibilities First assist in the OR (General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics) Perform surgical tasks such as: Suturing, stapling, wound closure Hemostasis and tissue management Patient positioning and intraoperative support Assist with suction, drainage, and irrigation Provide floor coverage : Rounding, consults, orders, and discharges Collaborate closely with surgeons and anesthesia teams Practice Details Facility: 109-bed acute care hospital EMR: Epic Patient Population: Adult, acutely ill Patient Ratios: ~1:10–15 Support: Dedicated surgical and nursing staff Automated Dispensing: Pyxis Requirements NP or PA with minimum 2 years recent surgical experience Robotics experience strongly preferred Active New York license (required) Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, ATLS Epic experience required Strong communication and teamwork skills Additional Information Orientation: 16 hours (billable) Opportunity to transition into full-time coverage through end of year Well-supported, team-oriented environment Recognized facility (Primary Stroke Center, DNV Accredited) Why This Opportunity?
