As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of properties and tenants, ensuring tenancy and estate management issues are dealt with promptly and in accordance with relevant legislation and policies. Your responsibilities will include: Managing a designated patch of properties and tenancies. Providing advice and support to tenants on a range of housing matters. Dealing with tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour and other tenancy management issues.
Carrying out tenancy visits, inspections and estate management activities. Taking appropriate action in relation to rent arrears and tenancy enforcement. Working closely with tenants to prevent tenancy failure and homelessness. Investigating complaints and responding to customer enquiries. Liaising with internal teams, contractors and external agencies. Identifying safeguarding concerns and making appropriate referrals.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records. Taking appropriate enforcement action where required. Supporting vulnerable tenants and working with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within a social housing, local authority or housing association environment. You will have: Previous experience working as a Housing Officer or in a similar housing management role.
Good knowledge of tenancy management and housing legislation. Experience dealing with anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches and rent arrears. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to manage a varied caseload effectively. Experience working with vulnerable residents and complex cases. Strong organisational and administrative skills. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
