This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Safety, and Capital Projects teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.Essential FunctionsInstrumentation & Controls*Provide technical expertise for instrumentation, analyzers, control valves, PLCs, DCS systems, and field devices.*Develop and maintain instrument specifications, datasheets, and engineering standards.*Support installation, commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.*Review and update P&IDs, loop drawings, interlock diagrams, and control narratives.Process Safety & Compliance*Lead efforts related to Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF).*Support PHA, LOPA, MOC, incident investigations, and action item closure.*Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, IEC 61511, and company standards.Identify and address instrumentation-related safety and reliability risks.Reliability & Continuous Improvement*Investigate instrumentation failures and implement corrective actions.*Improve alarm management, interlocks, and control system performance.*Support plant reliability initiatives and asset lifecycle management.*Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation assets.Projects & Engineering Support*Support capital and expense projects from concept through startup.*Provide instrument design, equipment selection, vendor coordination, and technical reviews.*Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and technical specifications.*Coordinate contractors and external engineering resources as needed.Leadership & Collaboration*Serve as the technical focal point for instrumentation and controls.*Mentor I&E technicians and provide technical training.*Coordinate activities with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Process Safety teams.*Support plant turnarounds, outages, and startup activities.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.Education QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.Work Experience5+ years of instrumentation, controls, or automation engineering experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining or process manufacturing industries.Skills and AbilitiesInstrumentation knowledge and design experience requiredExperience with SIS, SIL, SIF and functional safety programs requiredKnowledge of alarms, interlocks and safety systems requiredExperience with PLC and DCS systems requiredExperience supporting plant operations and maintenance activities requiredWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsWalking.
