**Lead Digital Accessibility Engineer** **Hire-type: Contract** **Location: Remote** **About The Role & Team:** · Launched in January of 2025, The Digital Accessibility CoE seeks to employ top Software Engineering talent whom also have a deep understanding of the nuances of delivering Enterprise outcomes that meet or exceed Digital Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 A & AA). · This team focuses on project delivery, sustainment compliance, and cultural transformation, targeting shift left thinking.
We champion that Digital Accessibility is “how” DXT should do our work, not something we do near the end of a project. o This team and role will influence capital projects through the review, consultation and alignment of new designs to Accessibility standards, collaborative creation of accessible components, and by providing designers and developers the detailed accessibility requirements required for successful execution.
o During delivery, this role can be found assisting developers “in sprint” with complex multi-platform development coaching & testing across iOS, Android, and Web platforms, and will often use assistive technologies like JAWS, ZoomText, AXE Dev Tools, and more to ensure inclusive experiences for user journeys / flows. o In cases where new delivery is a through a third party or contracted development, this role will lead engagements that verify Program Increment outcomes are compliant to the governing standard.
Often engaging external organizations like Sourcing and 3rd party companies with focus on escalation, root cause analysis, and behavior shaping. o For existing systems, this role focuses on supporting an assigned portfolio, partnering with Product champions and delivery managers to resolve known compliance drift. **What You'll Do:** - Trend project patterns and identify delivery improvement opportunities, training gaps, and other barriers to success, implement improvements to close gaps - Review and collaborate on Figma Designs, identify and correct compliance issues - Partner with Design and architecture teams to move inaccessible components to new patterns, retrofitting RA Design Systems (Hyperion and Vista) where appropriate.
- Create detailed technical requirements for Accessibility for UI stories, providing component guidance and code examples. - Test websites and mobile applications and provide detailed code remediation guidance for Page, Flow, and Site level Accessibility related work (in Latest) - Document and track unresolved defects (Jira), assigning priority and impact based on WCAG standards - Manage timelines and resource contention to ensure all assigned projects remain on time and on track to deliver accessible outcomes at launch - Consult with various studios / developers to explore alternative ways of addressing Jira tickets (defects) **Drive awareness and adoption of the CoE Services** - Collaborate across technology teams, optimizing the use of emerging tooling, knowledge content, AI, and training to support accessibility being part of “how we do our work” not something done at the end of a project.
- Support Product owners who may require ad-hoc Regulatory Testing of legacy Guest and Employee facing applications, websites, and digital properties against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 A & AA) and other regulatory requirements (EAA, ACA, etc). - Target high-risk aspects of emerging technologies to help Ensure Accessibility priorities are considered, review project proposals, and raise visibility to project plans that are not adopting RA patterns or not aligned with compliance goals.
