Job Family Group: Engineering Group Job Description: As the Lead ESE / BESS Systems Engineer, you will work within the Global Central Engineering & Quality team to lead the portfolio and life-cycle management of Electrical Supply Equipment (ESE) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), delivering a standardized, simplified portfolio of safe, reliable and cost-effective hardware configurations that optimize TCO and support the growth of the bp pulse charging network.
Key accountabilities: Lead portfolio management for Electrical Supply Equipment (ESE) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) (incl. Techno-economic assessments), ensuring a standardized and simplified portfolio which delivers optimum TCO Leading the life-cycle management for ESE: a. Managing requirements b. Managing Onboarding, Piloting and Delivery c. Support maintenance and incident resolution d.
Managing decommissioning of hardware Leading the life-cycle management for BESS: a. Managing requirements b. Managing Onboarding, Piloting and Delivery c. Support maintenance and incident resolution d. Managing decommissioning of hardware Developing ESE technical requirements with regional engineering teams and the Customer team. Developing ESE remote control and monitoring requirements with the operations team and the hardware team.
Developing future ESE strategy and roadmap, standardizing and simplifying to reduce TCO Owning & performance managing against the ESE onboarding plan & vendor management plan aligned to the Procurement Strategy and associated Procurement support. Developing and maintaining a data-based cost-benefit analysis for ESE from a global perspective Maintaining strategic partnerships with key suppliers Driving performance management of suppliers Conducting market analysis (customer and technology trends, competitor and industry activities) to inform hardware strategy Defining and tracking KPIs to measure success and cost-effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Own and manage the ESE and BESS product catalogues. Education: Excellent university degree in electrical or electronic engineering or equivalent Essential experience: Fluency in EV charging technologies and EV charging networks Experience in Portfolio Management Experience in Cost-benefit analysis Experience in product management for industrial goods Experience in leading cross-functional teams Good understanding of energy markets preferable A strong track record in project delivery or in supporting complex project management involving Hardware solutions in the EV infrastructure world including switchgear, transformer, packaged substation, BESS An understanding of the technical standards and protocols of the industry An understanding of Grid access constraints and LV / MV / HV connections.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Strong knowledge in SCADA including remote control and monitoring system. Fluent in English Desirable Experience Technical and engineering roll out in the EV field An understanding of Microgrid and Smart Grid concept and general design. Project Management of similar power and hardware Projects Proven years of experience in large scale engineering projects Broad professional experience in engineering and project management delivery.
Sound knowledge of EV charging technology and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of charging networks and how they are integrated. Direct experience of industry standards in the EV space. Agile Project management. Chartered Engineer or equivalent (working towards with imminent application would be considered) An understanding of hazardous area equipment requirements. Why join us?
