Job Description Link Worker (3) (16/364) (13/1073) Castle Douglas   Post 1:  22 hours per week - £17,609.17 - £18,698.17 Post 2:  12 hours per week - £9,605 - £10,199 Post 3:  6 hours per week - £4,802.50 - £5,099.50   The Learning Disability Service provided by Dumfries and Galloway's Health & Social Care Partnership supports young people and adults who have a range of needs including learning/ physical disabilities and autism spectrum conditions.

Castle Douglas Community Support Service provides both long-term care and support to adults living in their own homes and short-term Outreach support to families to prevent and respond to crisis situations. The service is expanding its Enhanced Outreach Service and is keen to hear from applicants who are adaptable and committed to supporting families at times when extra support is needed. As a Link Worker, you will be part of a team committed to delivering high quality person-centered services putting Health & Social Care Standards at the heart of all we do.

Reporting to a Support Coordinator (Key Worker), you will provide direct care and support to people in their homes and in accessing community opportunities to develop skills, promote independence, improve health and wellbeing and participate in adult learning/work-related activities. You will contribute towards personal planning and reviews, team meetings and recording of electronic information. In this post you will be required to work 22, 12 or 6 hours per week 52.14 weeks per year.

Some evening, weekend and sleep-in work may be required: however, we are keen to promote staff wellbeing and can offer a pattern of weekend on/off working or other flexible working patterns to support our employees to achieve a good work/life balance. You must hold a qualification at SVQ 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (Band 5). If you do not hold a qualification at SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent but meet the other essential criteria on the Person Specification, you may still be eligible for interview for a Link Worker position at Entry Level Band 4 (£13.26 per hour) whilst you undertake and/or complete the necessary qualification.

You will receive regular supervision and support for your professional development in this role with opportunities for learning and training. You must have some experience of paid or unpaid work with people with additional support needs, for example learning/physical disability, older adults or mental health conditions. You must be a team player, committed to supporting and enabling people to live fulfilled lives and to supporting service improvements.

An ability to use basic computer applications is desirable but training can be given. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. Requirements This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
