Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the hotel's facilities, guest rooms, and equipment at Fairmont Southampton. This role supports day-to-day operations by responding to maintenance requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all building systems operate efficiently and in accordance with Fairmont and Accor standards.
The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in protecting the guest experience by ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment across all areas of the hotel., Maintenance Operations & Guest Support Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from guests and colleagues, ensuring minimal disruption to the guest experience. Perform repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and other hotel facilities.
Communicate clearly with Front Office, Housekeeping, and other departments regarding maintenance status and room readiness. Technical & Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure reliability and longevity. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems. Identify potential issues proactively and recommend corrective actions to prevent equipment failure or service interruptions.
Install, replace, and test parts, fixtures, and equipment as required. Safety, Compliance & Standards Ensure all work is completed in compliance with hotel policies, safety standards, and local regulations. Follow proper lock-out/tag-out procedures, chemical handling, and tool safety practices. Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas at all times. Report safety hazards, equipment deficiencies, or infrastructure concerns to Engineering leadership.
Records, Inventory & Administration Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, repairs performed, and preventive maintenance activities. Assist with monitoring inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies; order replacements as required. Support engineering documentation and reporting requirements. Teamwork & Collaboration Work collaboratively with other Maintenance Technicians and Engineering team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Assist with special projects, renovations, and emergency repairs as needed. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned to support Engineering and hotel operations. Experience in a luxury hospitality setting is an asset. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or trade certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems is an asset. Competencies, Knowledge & Skills Strong working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Proven troubleshooting and repair skills across multiple disciplines.
Ability to read and interpret basic technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Good communication and customer service skills when interacting with guests and colleagues. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
