The engineer will support spacecraft mechanical and structural systems across CAD modeling, engineering analysis, hardware design, integration, verification, and testing. Areas of support may include structural components, mechanisms, ground support equipment, fluid-system hardware, docking and separation systems, payloads, and other flight or ground hardware. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience with mechanical design, CAD tools, engineering drawings, analysis, manufacturing, hardware integration, or testing and will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the engineering lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, modify, and maintain three-dimensional CAD models, assemblies, components, and engineering drawings for mechanical and structural applications.Prepare, simplify, modify, and export CAD geometry for structural, thermal, fluid, manufacturing, and other engineering analyses.Design or support the design of mechanical components, structural hardware, mechanisms, fixtures, ground support equipment, payload-support equipment, and fluid-system hardware.Perform or support mechanical and structural analyses, including finite element analysis, stress analysis, modal analysis, fatigue evaluation, and structural-performance assessments.Evaluate mechanical designs, load paths, interfaces, materials, tolerances, and operating environments to identify potential performance or integration issues.Develop and review engineering drawings using applicable geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles and standards.Support design-for-manufacturability activities involving machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and supplier coordination.Support mechanical and structural integration, verification, qualification, and testing, including hardware preparation, test execution, and evaluation of test results.Support troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action activities involving mechanical hardware, production issues, test failures, or reliability concerns.Review engineering requirements, designs, analyses, test data, and technical documentation to identify issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.Support engineering activities involving spacecraft structures, mechanisms, docking or separation systems, payloads, cargo systems, fluid-system components, and related flight or ground hardware.Coordinate with manufacturing personnel, technicians, suppliers, test engineers, and other engineering organizations to support hardware fabrication, integration, and delivery.Use product lifecycle management and configuration-control systems to maintain engineering models, drawings, technical data, and design revisions.Collaborate with structural, thermal, electrical, propulsion, avionics, fluids, reliability, mission-design, and systems-engineering teams to evaluate interfaces and integrated performance.Prepare and communicate technical findings, analysis results, design recommendations, and supporting documentation.Support resolution of mechanical, structural, manufacturing, integration, and test issues throughout the engineering lifecycle.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Three or more years of combined relevant engineering experience involving mechanical design, mechanical or structural analysis, aerospace hardware, integration, testing, reliability, or related work.
