Medical Assistant I Primary Care/ Community Health 40 hours

Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential Functions-Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

-Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers. -Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. -Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.

-Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. -Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked. -Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. -Other duties as assignedBrookside is a licensed Community Health Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive care with services in a range of medical areas including: Adult, Family and Pediatric Primary Care,OB/GYN, Family Planning, Dental/Oral Surgery, Nutrition/WIC, Behavioral Health and Specialty Medicine (Cardiology, Pulmonology and Nephrology).

Brookside also has a Laboratory onsite, Financial Counseling and Community Resource Specialists. Each year, more than 11,000 patients from Jamaica Plain, the city of Boston and surrounding areas use these services, producing more than 69,000 visits to Brookside each year. Most of Brookside's patient population are Spanish speaking and socioeconomically under-resourced. The health center's services, guided by equity, are provided by a bilingual English/Spanish medical and professional staff.
