Why Technicians Choose Merchants Auto Consistent workflow with a high volume of vehicles No manufacturer warranty work Flexible scheduling options to support work-life balance Competitive compensation Generous PTO and comprehensive benefits package ASE certification and ongoing training support Team-based environment with experienced Lead Technicians providing mentorship and daily support Opportunities for career growth within both Merchants Auto and the broader Merchants organization What You'll Do Depending on your experience level, responsibilities may include: Performing routine maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, fluid services, filters, and tire replacement Diagnosing and repairing steering, suspension, exhaust, and other undercarriage systems Conducting multipoint inspections for customer and resale vehicles Diagnosing and repairing drivability concerns on gasoline-powered passenger vehicles and light trucks Utilizing scan tools and diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle issues Performing interior and exterior trim repairs Troubleshooting and repairing vehicle electrical systems (Class A technicians) Qualifications Class B Technician Minimum 3 years of automotive repair experience Three ASE Certifications or equivalent OEM certifications preferred Ability to obtain certifications within one year if not currently certified Class A Technician Minimum 5 years of automotive repair experience Seven ASE Certifications or equivalent OEM certifications preferred Master ASE Certification strongly preferred Ability to obtain certifications within one year if not currently certified What You'll Bring Valid driver's license Must continue to keep a satisfactory driving record, as determined by Merchants, and remain eligible to be insured by the companys vehicle insurance carrier.
Employee must cooperate in completing any required authorizations or paperwork for regular motor vehicle checks. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems Ability to safely operate vehicles in shop and road-test environments Strong diagnostic, communication, and problem-solving skills Commitment to quality workmanship and teamwork Physical Requirements Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly Manual dexterity and mobility necessary to perform repair tasks Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions as required Join a Team That's Driving Forward At Merchants Auto, you'll find more than a technician job.
