The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Metallurgist to join our Mill Technical Services team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This is a permanent on-site position, working a two week on two week off rotation at our Voisey's Bay Mine Site. As a Metallurgist, you will be responsible for ensuring that concentrator process equipment and operating practices deliver a performance which meets or exceeds Company targets.
Additionally, in this position you will: Monitor plant performance, support troubleshooting operational issues, and provide technical feedback and advice to optimize results. Produce daily metallurgical accounting balances, perform monthly and annual production and inventory reconciliation, generate reports, and conduct regular QA/QC checks on production accounting systems, reporting results in accordance with an established program.
Support the definition of a metallurgical development program to optimize the process, conduct technical investigations at the bench, pilot, and plant scales to generate data, and provide technically sound recommendations for process improvements to operations and management. Participate in maintenance planning, ensuring process needs are considered and defects in equipment are identified for necessary repairs or modifications.
Develop and oversee an ongoing calibration program for the on-stream analyzers, ensure that operators follow SOPs, and ensure that the required spare part inventory is maintained. Identify and lead process improvement projects, represent the process on capital projects, and develop relationships with internal and external off-site support groups.
