The Multi Skilled Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Apprentice will undertake a structured four-year HEST apprenticeship combining formal technical education with supervised workplace learning. The apprentice will attend college, training centres and other required learning activities, complete the necessary portfolio, logbooks and competency records, and work towards successful completion of the apprenticeship gateway and end-point assessment.
They will take responsibility for their learning and development, meet agreed training targets and maintain regular communication with supervisors, assessors and the training provider. Under the supervision of suitably qualified and experienced engineers, the apprentice will learn to diagnose faults and support the maintenance, repair, installation and testing of electrical and mechanical plant, equipment and building services.
Duties will progressively include planned preventative maintenance, statutory inspections and testing, minor improvements, use of engineering drawings and specifications, selection of materials, safe use of tools and accurate completion of maintenance records. All work will remain within the apprentice's assessed competence and will follow Trust procedures, risk assessments, permits to work, infection prevention requirements and relevant health and safety standards.
