Join a leading energy utility serving more than 7 million customers across multiple states and backed by 150+ years of industry experience. This opportunity offers strong exposure to natural gas settlements, pipeline operations, and energy trading processes, with direct involvement in the gas revenue and cost cycle. This six-month contract at $50/hour is based at a major Downtown Houston office and offers potential conversion to a long-term position , plus the possibility of remote Fridays after the initial three-month training period .

The Natural Gas Settlements Analyst will ensure natural gas revenue and cost transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, analyzed, and reported while supporting transportation and supply settlements. This role goes beyond traditional accounting by reconciling scheduled pipeline volumes against actual transportation statements and working directly with Scheduling and Trading to investigate discrepancies.

The position provides valuable hands-on experience with Excel, SAP, QUORUM, NGENU, pipeline data, invoicing, A/R, A/P, and energy-market operations. Responsibilities Validate natural gas transportation and supply invoices for accuracy and completeness. Reconcile scheduled pipeline volumes against actual transportation statements and operational data. Investigate volume, pricing, invoice, and settlement discrepancies and coordinate resolution with Scheduling and Trading.

Ensure gas revenue and cost transactions are accurately recorded, analyzed, and reported. Support natural gas billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and related settlement activities. Develop recurring reports for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with established reporting requirements. Analyze settlement and pipeline data using Excel and energy-related systems. Partner with Scheduling, Trading, Accounting, auditors, and external stakeholders to resolve transactional issues.

Maintain documentation and controls supporting accurate and timely gas settlements. Ensure transactions and reporting comply with applicable regulatory, state, federal, and internal requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field . 2–4 years of relevant experience in natural gas settlements, gas accounting, pipeline transportation, scheduling, invoicing, A/R, A/P, energy trading operations, or a related area.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience analyzing and reconciling financial or operational data. Experience reconciling pipeline volumes, transportation statements, invoices, or comparable energy transactions preferred. Experience with SAP, QUORUM, and/or NGENU highly preferred . Knowledge of natural gas transportation, supply, scheduling, settlements, or pipeline operations preferred.

Ability to work onsite in Downtown Houston during the initial training period . Eligibility to convert to a permanent employee if selected for a long-term opportunity.
