This includes leading a landmark project to transform the historic Canning Town Old Library into Newham Heritage Centre, the borough’s newest cultural hub.  When construction work is completed, the building will contain an inspiring new exhibition space, reading room and bespoke archive storage, digital suite, learning space, venue hire space and a cafe.

This ambitious project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, will establish a new cultural destination for the borough and connect people who are living, working and studying in Newham. About the Job We are seeking a Learning & Engagement Apprentice to join Newham Heritage Centre’s team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about heritage, culture and community engagement.  The role will involve working closely with people, responding to visitor needs and supporting the delivery of our ambitious creative activity programme.

The Learning & Engagement Apprentice will have the unique opportunity get ‘hands-on’ practical experience, working on a range of community and visitor focused activities at Newham Heritage Centre’s. There is no degree or university requirement for this position. Details of the Job As an apprentice at Newham, you will receive:  18 month fixed-term contract with Newham Council. Quality training, to include one day a week learning with an accredited education provider based in central London. Line management and colleague support. Support to enhance your CV and interview skills.  Up to 24 days’ annual leave plus three additional days that are taken between 26 December and 3 January. 8 public holidays per year. 36 hour working week.
