Nurse/Allied Health Professional for Adult Safeguarding

The post supports the delivery of adult safeguarding within a clinical governance framework, promoting safeguarding as a core responsibility across the Trust. As a senior member of the integrated safeguarding team, the Named Nurse/AHP provides leadership, management and specialist support to safeguarding professionals, embedding a Think Family approach. The post holder will work with the Chief and Deputy Chief Nurse, Named Professionals and Named Consultants to support strategic planning, service development and assurance that the Trust meets its statutory safeguarding responsibilities, including the Care Act 2014 and CQC standards.

They will provide specialist advice and supervision to Trust staff and work closely with safeguarding colleagues to ensure effective links between adult and children's services. The role will also act as the Trust lead for learning disability, autism and mental health safeguarding, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies. The post holder will lead on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/Liberty Protection Safeguards and the Trust's domestic abuse strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures., Provide visible clinical leadership and specialist safeguarding advice across the Trust.

Lead and support delivery of statutory safeguarding responsibilities, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS/LPS and CQC requirements. Act as Trust lead for adult safeguarding, Prevent, domestic abuse, learning disability/autism, mental health and MCA/DoLS. Support staff managing complex safeguarding cases through advice, supervision, case reviews, safeguarding enquiries and multi-agency meetings.

Work collaboratively with internal services and external partners to improve safeguarding outcomes. Lead safeguarding audits, assurance reporting, action plans, annual reports and risk management processes. Support organisational learning from safeguarding incidents, reviews and investigations. Contribute to the delivery of safeguarding training, supervision and awareness programmes. Line manage and support Adult Safeguarding Practitioners.

Promote the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, ensuring the voice of patients, families and carers is heard and reflected in decision-making., The Named Nurse/Allied Health Professional for Adult Safeguarding will support the operational delivery of adult safeguarding across the Trust, ensuring safeguarding is embedded within clinical governance arrangements and recognised as everyones responsibility.

The post holder will be a senior member of the Trusts integrated safeguarding team and will provide specialist leadership, advice and support to staff across the organisation. They will work closely with the Chief Nurse/Executive Lead for Safeguarding, Deputy Chief Nurse, Named Nurse/AHP for Safeguarding Children, Named Consultants for Safeguarding and Adult Safeguarding Practitioners to support the development and delivery of safeguarding priorities.

Main responsibilities will include: Providing visible clinical leadership and expert advice in relation to adult safeguarding, including complex safeguarding cases. Supporting the Trust to meet its statutory safeguarding duties under relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/Liberty Protection Safeguards and CQC requirements. Acting as a lead for key areas including adult safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS/LPS, Prevent, domestic abuse, learning disability and/or autism, and mental health.

Supporting staff to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, including through advice, supervision, case discussion and escalation where required. Working with clinical teams to ensure reasonable adjustments are made for patients with a learning disability and/or autism. Providing expert advice on Mental Capacity Act assessments, best interest decision making and DoLS/LPS applications.
