Nurse Lead

The Nurse Lead for Reducing Restrictive Practice (RRP) will be at the forefront of transforming our services into a beacon of least restrictive, trauma informed, person-centred care. This dynamic leader will champion evidence-based practices while setting and elevating the professional standards for care within our facilities. In this pivotal role, the Nurse Lead will provide expert clinical guidance, especially for individuals who have highly complex needs and behaviours of concern, with a specific focus on those whose high risk behaviours that result in enhanced observations.

As an autonomous practitioner, the Nurse Lead will offer advanced clinical expertise, delivering trauma informed and recovery focussed advice, coaching, and constructive feedback to empower clinical teams to work positively with service users around safety. They will spearhead the Trust's innovative Safe and Supportive Observations (SASO) project, co-ordinating best practice, and leading crucial 14+ day independent reviews.

Their influence will extend to shaping and contributing to the RRP educational program and clinical practice guidelines, ensuring that our staff are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills. They will be part of the embedding of Trauma Informed Approaches across the inpatient wards. The role will be responsible for a small specialist clinical team to deliver the project objectives by delivering coaching, training, support and advice to clinical inpatient teams., Lead implementation of the reducing restrictive practice programme, including leadership of stakeholders recruited to it.

Provide expert clinical practice and leadership on reducing restrictive practice: clinical advice, coaching, and constructive challenge to colleagues regarding service users on enhanced observation and other restrictive interventions, promoting the least restrictive option wherever possible. Promote least restrictive approaches consistent with trauma informed practice and personalised care, and work actively to prevent re-traumatisation.

Strengthen service users' experience of psychological safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration, and build staff awareness and skills to the same standard. Work alongside service users, families and carers so they are central to care planning, in line with the recovery model, and co-produce approaches to enhanced observation and the reduction of restrictive interventions.

Provide culturally sensitive services tailored to individual need and background. Develop research capacity within the reducing restrictive practice programme. Support services to sustain and develop practice through quality improvement methods that improve patient safety outcomes and recovery. Work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, commissioners and partner organisations to keep service management joined up., Lead the implementation of the SASO project which includes leadership of relevant stakeholders recruited to the programme.

· Promoting and providing the least restrictive approaches in line with Trauma Informed Approach and personalised care. · Demonstrate values which respect service users' choice; working alongside them and their families/carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning (recovery model). · To enhance the service users' experience of psychological safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural considerations in line with Trauma Informed Approaches.

To work with staff to increase their awareness and skills in line with the same. · Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of trauma and work to actively prevent re-traumatisation · · To provide culturally sensitive services, tailored to the unique experience and needs of individuals whatever their background. Involvement in the development of the Trust SASO educational programme ensuring that the national and local standards are adhered to.

Provide expert clinical practice and leadership for
