SUMMARY The Office Assistant I (Keyboarding) serves as the first point of contact for prospective students, families, and visitors to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, creating a welcoming and professional environment while providing exceptional customer service and administrative support. They will be responsible for helping to process student applications; along with scanning and processing documents to student applications.
This individual will assist our Campus Visit Coordinator with greeting and assisting with daily group visits and daily visitors. They will answer our main admissions phone line through our office queue to direct callers to the appropriate department or individual. The Office Assistant will help support the other Office Assistants by responding to emails, helping to assist with letters and other various roles.

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a noncompetitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.
Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (NY HELPS): There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. The selected candidate must pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates the ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute
