For our client in Tongeren, we are looking for an Operations Manager who will also take charge of the office in Inden (Germany, 2 days a week). In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, monitoring and optimisation of transport operations from Tongeren. In this key role, you will oversee the schedule, manage drivers and operational processes, and ensure the smooth, cost-effective and compliant execution of journeys.
You will combine operational decisiveness with strong administrative and coordinating support. Your responsibilities are wide-ranging and varied: • you monitor lorries and transport orders in real time and intervene promptly in the event of deviations, delays or operational problems; • you optimise the schedule with a focus on maximising vehicle utilisation, minimising empty kilometres and ensuring the efficient deployment of drivers and resources; • you are the first point of contact for drivers and maintain clear communication with customers in the event of changes or unexpected situations; • You ensure compliance with driving and rest periods, social regulations and other legal obligations within the transport sector; • You support the team’s operations by identifying inefficiencies, improving working methods and following up on operational agreements; • You will take on an administrative support role to assist the Office Manager, including driver administration, document management, payroll preparation and monitoring absences; • You will accurately record and monitor incidents, complaints, deviations and technical problems; • You monitor the condition, cleanliness and availability of the vehicle fleet and liaise with garages and other internal or external partners.
You will work closely with management, internal colleagues and the team on the shop floor, and you will have a visible impact on the efficiency, quality and continuity of day-to-day operations.
