Operations Manager

One Ummah is a faith-based international relief and development charity operating programmes in over 15 countries. The Operations Manager is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours/week) based in Birmingham, UK, with additional offices in Middlesbrough and London. Role Overview: You will lead One Ummah's operations function, reporting directly to senior leadership. The Operations team includes dedicated leads for Compliance, IT, HR, and Islamic Compliance, as well as contracted staff.

You will oversee the quality, consistency, and effective delivery of internal operations across all functions. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee the organisation's IT infrastructure, HR processes, and facilities management - Maintain and update strategy documents and risk registers - Ensure compliance with UK charity regulations and Islamic principles - Manage the Operations team, including leads for Compliance, IT, HR, and Islamic Compliance - Lead or support major cross-departmental projects and initiatives - Partner with senior leadership to ensure organisational systems and processes remain fit for purpose - Manage budgeting and resource allocation across operations - Support the organisation's international relief and development mission Essential Requirements: - Minimum 3 years of management experience - Background in the UK charity sector with proven knowledge of governance and regulatory requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification - Valid UK driving licence - Competency in IT systems, budgeting, and staff management - Working understanding of basic Islamic teachings and values Desirable Qualifications: - Senior executive or director-level experience - Familiarity with Islamic financial concepts (Zakat, Sadaqah, Waqf) - Background in IT management or digital operations What's Offered: - Full-time, permanent employment - £32,000–£35,000 per year - Rolling application review To apply, send your CV and cover letter to [email protected] with 'Operations Manager' in the subject line.
