Outpatient Neurosurgery APP needed in Northern California

Overview: Seeking an experienced APP (PA or NP) to join a high‑volume neuro‑spine outpatient clinic at an academic medical center (preferred). This is strictly outpatient — no OR or inpatient responsibilities. APPs support 5 surgeons and 2 physiatrists as part of a 7‑APP team with MAs and patient navigators. Job Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Independently conduct patient consults, follow‑ups, and post‑op visits Perform focused physical exams, triage calls, order and interpret imaging, and manage medications Provide wound care, staple/drain removal, and other routine outpatient procedures Potentially perform trigger point, hip, or knee injections if experienced (not required) Coordinate care with surgeons, fellows, and clinic staff; document in Epic Qualifications: Required Experience & Qualifications: Strong outpatient experience managing ~20–25 patients/day Background in neuro‑spine, neurosurgery, ortho spine, or pain management Comfortable conducting consults independently and making clinical decisions Experience with Epic EMR Academic medical center experience strongly preferred Preferred Experience with outpatient injection procedures (trigger point/hip/knee) Prior work in a high‑volume specialty clinic supporting surgeons and physiatrists APP will not be assigned OR time; OR cases are allocated to residents/fellows This is a full‑time, weekday outpatient role only Working Hours: Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 25 weeks | Schedule: Full time, M–F 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (no weekends, no holidays) Workload & Coverage: Typical in‑person volume: 20–22 patients/day (up to ~26/day when including telehealth) Coverage needed every week, Monday–Friday Patient population: adult neuro‑spine surgery patients (surgical and non‑surgical) APPs handle post‑op and follow‑up care; first visits and pre‑ops done by surgeons/fellows
