Pediatric Gastroenterologist Needed for Flexible Weekend Locums Coverage in South Carolina

Pediatric Gastroenterology locums needs are rare, and this long-term assignment offers a focused weekend schedule with flexibility around both the hours and frequency of coverage. A hospital in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a Pediatric Gastroenterologist for weekend coverage beginning in October 2026 and continuing through September 2027. The preferred schedule is every weekend, but the facility is open to discussing whatever frequency can realistically work for the right physician.

Assignment Details Friday at 3:00 p.m. through Monday at 7:00 a.m. Start and end times may be negotiated Consult-only Pediatric Gastroenterology service Approximately 8 to 12 patients on the service each day Typically, only about half of the patients require weekend rounding Coverage is limited to one hospital Epic EMR Patient population includes newborns, pediatric patients, and adolescents Foreign-body procedures are part of the service Other urgent scopes are performed at the physician’s discretion Urgent issues such as GI bleeds are uncommon but must be managed when necessary Long-term need through September 2027 Qualifications Board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology or Gastroenterology Minimum of two years of recent experience Active South Carolina license or willingness to obtain one BLS and ACLS Active DEA and South Carolina controlled-substance registration required before the assignment begins We are willing to license the right physician for this assignment.

Compensation is negotiable, and I am open to discussing the rate you would need to make this schedule worthwhile. Travel, lodging, and rental-car arrangements are also available.
