Performs duties related to patient care under the direction of regulated Health Care Professionals and/or Physicians in accordance with hospital standards, policies and procedures.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families. Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Certificate in Personal Support Worker (PSW) from a recognized PSW Program Experience:  Previous experience working in hospital and or other healthcare facilities preferred Skilled in point of care (POC) preferred Knowledge and Skills:  Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent related skills & experience Current BLS & CPR Certificates required Previous Hospital/Health Care experience strongly preferred Current basic computer skills Effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Must have the knowledge, skill, judgment and ability to work with patients in an   understanding, sensitive and compassionate manner Must be a self-directed individual with well-developed organizational skills Possess the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision Proven initiative, judgment, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities Have an interest in, and the ability to work with the elderly patients Demonstrated ability to comply with patient safety initiatives, e.g.

hand hygiene protocols Demonstrated ability to respect the patient’s rights to safety, dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality.
