The Hamburg Police Department is accepting applications for eligibility for the position of Police Officer (full and part-time). Hamburg Police is a small agency with a significant call volume, approximately 8,500 calls for service per year. The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Hamburg Berks County) is inviting qualified persons to apply for the positions of full and part-time police officer.
This is competitive testing as prescribed by Civil Service Rules. All applicants must participate in and successfully complete a physical agility test, a written test and an oral board of review. Scoring of three facets is regulated by Civil Service rules. Veteran’s Preference: Hamburg Borough Civil Service recognizes veteran’s preference. • United States citizen and Resident of Pennsylvania with a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. • High school diploma or GED. • Must be of good moral character. • Physically and psychologically capable of performing the duties of a police officer. • No misdemeanor or felony convictions. • No extensive traffic driving history • Able to testify in a court of law. • Maintain Act 120 certification throughout employment.
• Successfully complete a psychological examination and medical examination • Undergo an extensive background investigation Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete a Field Training Program in addition to a 12-month probationary hire period.
