Description Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Powder Technician at our underground mine operations at our Ames Mine. Essential Functions Participate in safety programs and trainings, promoting Martin Marietta's Guardian Angel cultureAbide by all safety rules, regulations and procedures of the mineAbility to safety lift, carry and handle explosive materialsCompile explosives records in compliance with local and federal laws.Ability to learn and operate equipment ensuring safe equipment operationMaintain inventory levels, ordering new supplies as necessaryLay out designs for drill and blast patterns.Ability to work at heights while functioning in an elevated work positionSet up and operate equipment to bore holes.Other duties as assignedPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position and will require 40+ hours per week.
Required Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentHeavy equipment operations or military experience preferred A valid US Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work with minimal supervisionKnowledge of MSHA regulationsEffective verbal communicationKnowledge of heavy mobile equipment and tools including their design, use, and maintenancePhysical AbilitiesAbility to work in an outdoor environment year-roundGeneral physical activities including climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling materialsA member of the S&P 500 Index, Martin Marietta is an American-based company and a leading supplier of heavy building materials - including aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete and asphalt.
