A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Power Plant Maintenance Technician Position type: Full-time, Contract Duration: 6 months, possible extension Location: Washington District of Columbia 20032 About the Opportunity Join our team as a Power Plant Maintenance Technician, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our power generation equipment.

From maintaining complex machinery to supporting plant outages and upgrades, you'll be at the heart of keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently. What You'll Do As a Plant Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing a wide range of critical plant equipment, including pumps, valves, compressors, blowers, heat exchangers, boilers, and supporting systems.

Your expertise will directly contribute to equipment reliability, operational continuity, and workplace safety. Key Responsibilities Maintain Reliability Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime. Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacements on plant equipment. Conduct routine maintenance activities such as lubrication, mechanical alignment, vibration monitoring, and condition assessments.

Support Plant Operations Assist with outage planning, scheduling, and execution activities. Collaborate closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted plant performance. Contribute to equipment upgrades, installations, modifications, and commissioning activities. Drive Maintenance Excellence Support the administration and ongoing improvement of the preventive maintenance program.

Source and procure maintenance parts, manage inventory levels, and coordinate contractor support when required. Deliver maintenance services on schedule while balancing safety, quality, cost efficiency, and equipment reliability objectives. Champion Safety Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by identifying, addressing, and reporting unsafe conditions. Adhere to all plant operating procedures, maintenance standards, and health & safety requirements.

Ensure all work activities are completed in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Be a Team Player Assist with calibration activities, general mechanical maintenance, housekeeping, and other plant support functions. Participate in emergency response activities and provide support during critical plant outages and operational events. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by Plant Leadership.

What You Bring Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent qualification. Minimum 5 years of experience in power plant operations and/or maintenance. Technical or vocational training through a recognized trade school, apprenticeship, or military program. Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of steam plant systems and combustion turbine equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Technical & Problem-Solving Skills Ability to analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions within established procedures. Comfortable applying calculations, technical reasoning, and engineering judgment to solve maintenance challenges. Ability to read and interpret: Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Electrical schematics Mechanical drawings Block diagrams Safety procedures and maintenance manuals Physical Requirements This role is active and hands-on, requiring the ability to: Stand, walk, climb, and move throughout industrial plant environments.

Climb ladders, maintain balance, and work at elevated locations when required. Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined or challenging spaces. Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
