Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.GMC has an opening for a Project Architect with extensive practice experience. The position is overseeing projects in the office while managing project team members and consultants. The team member is likely a resource and leader to less experienced staff. They spend the majority of their work time in the office but is also engaged in field work and meetings associated with their projects.

The team member may be involved with conceptual design, planning, programming, and similar activities where skillsets allow and is heavily involved in Contractor communications, and likely the responsible professional overseeing each phase of projects including, but not limited to, the technical work, scheduling, budget management, and project communication.Essential Job DutiesTechnicalFully competent in all aspects of architectureSubject matter expert on Architectural processes, procedures, and technology Responsible for projects of a larger scale and complexity; including leadership of lower level staffReviews completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculationsResponsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client’s needsProvides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projectsIndependently applies advanced architectural concepts and designsCarries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and proceduresMay provide guidance to less experienced architectsParticipates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire projectServes as a Subject Matter Expert on specialized systemsLiaises with other Architects and consultantsDevelops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projectsCoordinates with Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategiesQA/QCExecutes cross discipline checks and coordinationReviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assuranceRecognizes and reports risk management issues to Project Architect as appropriateTeam & Customer Focus Client and Customer FocusHighly involved in the understanding of client needsUnderstand the profession’s ethical obligation to Client and the public welfareAssist with reviewing and defining scope of work issues with Consultants and ContractorsTeam OrientationLeads or manages lower level staff members on technical work Assists in the development of lower level staffWork across disciplines and office locations to fully utilize firm experiential knowledgeAssist others with technical mentoringRecognize the role as a team playerCompany PerspectiveRepresent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments to prospective employees, clients, and the communities we serveReinforce GMC standards and Core Values to others.CommunicationAbility to respond to common inquiries from Clients or regulatory agenciesPrepare reports and technical memorandums; partners Architecture leaders on finalize product Ability to effectively present information in oral and written formatLeadership & ServiceLeadershipProvides input to improving project delivery processes and standards.Contributes to Client Services team.
