Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Location: Indianapolis IN 46218 Pay rate: $85/hr.- $95/hr. on w2 Shift: 4 days/week, 7-hour shifts | No On-Call Duration: Long term Hour/week: 28hr./week Position Summary: We are seeking a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our professional medical staff. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric and primary healthcare services to patients while practicing independently within the scope of Indiana Nurse Licensing Board regulations and collaborating with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary healthcare team.

The role includes psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, emergency response, patient education, and clinical leadership. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments, obtain patient histories, and develop treatment plans. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic psychiatric and medical conditions. Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Indiana NP practice guidelines.

Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, EKGs, EEGs, and imaging. Perform minor office procedures, including cultures, Pap smears, rectal examinations, suturing, and dressing changes. Provide psychiatric medication management and monitor patient progress. Respond to medical emergencies, including providing CPR and initiating emergency care. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

Provide clinical leadership and direction to nursing and direct care staff. Develop and deliver patient and family education programs. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and specialty clinics. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and state regulations. Required Qualifications: Active Indiana Nurse Practitioner license with authorization to practice within NP scope.

DEA Registration and Indiana Controlled Substance Registration (CSR). Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) preferred. Current CPR Certification. Bridge Building Certification (or willingness to obtain if required). Experience independently performing: Comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions. Psychiatric evaluations and medication management.

Minor invasive procedures, including cultures, Pap smears, rectal exams, suturing, and dressing changes. Strong knowledge of psychology and experience caring for patients with behavioral health and psychiatric disorders. Previous experience providing clinical direction and supervision to nursing and direct care staff. Excellent communication, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience: Prior inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health experience. Experience working in state psychiatric hospitals or neurodiagnostic facilities. Experience leading quality improvement or clinical research initiatives. Work Environment Hospital-based inpatient psychiatric setting. Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting with patient management when necessary. Frequent interaction with patients experiencing psychiatric and behavioral health conditions, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
