Psychiatrist – Region 5, Mental Health Location: Columbus, OH 43215 Shift: Monday–Friday, no weekends/holidays (rare after-hours calls possible) Hours/Week: 24–40 hours (typically closer to 40) Duration: At least 6 months from projected start date Minimum Education: Doctoral Degree Overview Seeking a licensed Psychiatrist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat consumers across all ages (adults and children) within Ohio's DODD system, providing psychiatric care, medication management, and psychotherapy/counseling.
Key Responsibilities • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat consumers; prescribe medication; provide psychotherapy/counseling (e.g., psychoanalysis, behavior modification) • Monitor and coordinate professional/paraprofessional medical, nursing, and direct care staff on psychiatric care matters • Review consumer records for accuracy and completeness; recommend staffing/organizational improvements • Conduct and participate in lectures/seminars in psychiatry for professional and paraprofessional staff Required Qualifications • Certificate to practice medicine per Ohio Revised Code Section 4731.13 • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program (AMA, AOA, or AOBNP), or recognition as a psychiatrist by the Ohio State Medical/Osteopathic Association based on formal training + 5+ years of psychiatric practice (per ORC 5122.01(E)) • Must maintain license via biannual renewal (100 hours of continuing education required) • Experience working with all age groups (adults and children)
