QD Writer As the government reforms education, Pearson is beginning to prepare for the redevelopment of GCSEs in Art & Design. This freelance opportunity is designed for Art & Design specialists who would enjoy sharing their knowledge, insight and passion for the subject to help shape the next chapter of Art & Design education.

Purpose of this role: A Subject Specialist supports the development of live assessment materials and qualification documentation for new specifications. This includes, but is not limited to, the Assessment Strategy, Specification, Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs), and assessment content, ensuring that all materials meet the required standards and qualification objectives. Successful candidates will undertake activities that support the development, review, and quality assurance of live assessment and qualification materials.

Depending on business needs and individual expertise, Subject Specialists may also contribute to the writing, editing, and review of assessment content and supporting qualification documentation. Key Duties & Responsibilities Writing activities Write the required materials assigned according to the setters' guidance provided and support the content development of all key qualification documents Respond positively to feedback received Provide content in the required format using the specified format for submission Make amendments following feedback.

All/general activities Provide up-to-date sector or subject-specific expertise that feeds into material production Keep up to date with changes in the sector/subject area Have detailed knowledge of the requirements/standards/specifications that encompass the role or area of expertise Engage in question paper evaluation committee meetings Meet deadlines & report back to Pearson within agreed timeframes Ensure parity of standards Adhere to guidance provided by Pearson Work effectively with colleagues Take part in training activities, associated with the role, as required Background/Experience/Skills (Essential) At least 3 years' experience working with GCSE Art & Design as a teacher, assessor, practitioner, or subject specialist A degree in Art, Design, or related subjects Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Art & Design education Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) in subject specialism Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, providing and receiving constructive feedback Ability to meet agreed deadlines and work independently Background/Experience/Skills (Desirable) A recognised UK teaching qualification.

Knowledge of current developments, research, and debates in Art & Design education. A clear understanding of the educational landscape and regulatory requirements for qualifications A basic understanding of the examination processes for general qualifications Innovative writers with fresh ideas that motivate our learners and set them on the path to success Experience in writing any of the following: support materials aimed at students, teachers and schools Specifications assessments or tests published materials (e.g.

textbooks) Experience providing feedback in a professional context.
