Horizon Teachers is working with a well-regarded secondary special school in Hillingdon supporting students aged 11-19 with moderate learning difficulties and a range of associated needs, including autism, speech, language and communication needs, and Down syndrome. The school is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join its in-house therapy team and work alongside teaching staff across the school day.

This is a school where therapy isn't a room students get taken out to. It's embedded in classrooms, in the vocational curriculum, in the corridors and at lunchtime - and therapists are treated as full members of the staff team rather than visiting professionals. What You'll Be Doing Holding a caseload of students aged 11-19 with a broad mix of speech, language and communication needs Carrying out assessments and writing clear, practical reports, including contributions to EHCP reviews and annual reviews Planning and delivering individual and small group intervention, and modelling strategies in class Training and coaching teachers, teaching assistants and support staff so communication strategies carry on when you're not in the room Developing and embedding AAC, Makaton, symbol and visual support systems across the school Working closely with the wider therapy, pastoral and SEN teams, and liaising with families and external professionals Contributing to the school's preparation-for-adulthood and work-related learning offer, supporting functional communication for independence and employment What We're Looking For A degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy HCPC registration (essential) and RCSLT membership Newly qualified therapists are warmly welcomed - Band 5 posts here come with structured supervision, peer support and a genuine competency framework Experience in a paediatric, education or SEN setting is an advantage, though not essential Confidence working in a classroom environment and coaching non-specialist staff Warmth, patience and a belief that every student has something to say Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one Why Horizon Teachers We're heading into our busiest year yet, with more roles across London than ever before Exposure to positions you won't find advertised anywhere else, through schools we've worked with for years £300 referral vouchers when you recommend a colleague who joins us Rated 4.8 stars on Google by the candidates we place Operam Education Group includes Provide Education | Teachers UK | Provision Recruitment | The Education Specialists | First for Education | Horizon Teachers | Key Stage Teacher Supply We're proud to be an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and committed to creating accessible opportunities across education.

As part of our registration process, you'll need an enhanced DBS check and we'll need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
