The Opportunity We currently have an opening for a Regional Underwriting Manager to join our South-East team based in London as part of the UK regions business This role will provide strategic direction for the region, underwriting the Casualty and Contractors Combined portfolio to ensure growth and profitability.
You will manage a team of underwriters, write guidelines, underwrite complex new businesses, and offer specialist advice. Additionally, the role is responsible for building and maintaining broker relationships, applying technical expertise, contributing to business results, and staying informed about industry standards and new product introductions. Your new role Support the delivery of the portfolio business plan, driving profitable growth and performance. Underwrite complex risks in line with regulatory requirements and underwriting strategy. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers and key stakeholders. Apply underwriting best practice to drive quality, consistency and efficiency.
Continuously develop technical expertise and market knowledge. Ensure accurate recording and management of insurance risks, including Delegated Underwriting Authorities where applicable. Contribute to business planning and portfolio performance initiatives. Provide technical expertise and insights to identify opportunities and address challenges. Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge, shape strategy and drive best practice.
Lead, coach and develop underwriters to achieve business objectives and deliver outstanding results. About you Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, develop and lead high-performing underwriting teams. Experience within Casualty and/or Construction underwriting Experience driving results in challenging market conditions, balancing growth, profitability and risk management. Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate market insights into clear plans and business outcomes.
Visible in the market and skilled at building and strengthening broker and customer relationships, particularly within the Middle Market segment. Confident communicator who can positively challenge thinking, influence stakeholders and drive change.
