Job Title Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery Location Lafayette, IN | Short-Term Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (2x12 per week); expected schedule may include 36-, 40-, or 48-hour workweeks depending on shift configuration Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care for Labor and Delivery patients including active labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, C-sections with salpingectomy, SROM, PPROM, hypertension, preeclampsia, antenatal, and triage patients Operate and monitor equipment including CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitoring (wired and wireless), Periwatch/Vigilance, Hillrom labor beds, Draeger Radiant warmers, vein light, and V-scan Utilize birthing and peanut balls as appropriate during patient care Follow AWHONN staffing guidelines; typical ratios are 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and up to 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients; flexibility to take additional patients during high-census periods is required Participate in on-call rotation, including every 3rd weekend call Float within the Maternal Child Health (MCH) unit or to affiliate facilities as required; floating is 100% required of all travelers Required Qualifications Active, unencumbered Indiana RN license — must be in hand prior to start date; pending licenses are not accepted at time of submission Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience (18 months minimum considered) Required certifications — all must be in hand at time of submission: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM Must be willing and able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays per contract requirements Charting via Cerner (no specific charting system experience required) Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position; candidates must reside outside of Indiana to be eligible Preferred Experience / Skills Experience with high-acuity Labor and Delivery cases including preeclampsia, PPROM, and unscheduled operative deliveries Familiarity with AWHONN staffing guidelines and patient ratio standards Prior experience with Periwatch, Vigilance monitoring systems, or similar fetal monitoring platforms Previous travel nursing experience in a Labor and Delivery setting Why Join Us Work in a well-equipped Labor and Delivery unit at a short-term acute care facility with free on-site parking Opportunity to gain broad clinical experience across a full spectrum of maternal-newborn care in a guideline-driven, team-oriented environment
