This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people. From working with children and young people, to supporting the senior leadership team with administrative duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the school, the remit of the role is diverse with no two days the same. The role may focus on some aspects more than others at different times of the year, but there would be an expectation of flexibility based on the needs of the school.

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed School Support Worker to join our team at Portmoak Primary School. In this rewarding role, your duties will include making a real difference to children's experiences by providing high-quality support, particularly for pupils with Additional Support Needs. Part of your role will be working closely with staff, parents and partners to support children to engage successfully in their learning through our nurturing and restorative approach.

You will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment and use a range of strategies to meet individual needs in a kind, patient and caring manner. You will work collaboratively as part of our team, contributing to planning and reviewing support to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and will carry out your duties in line with local and national guidance, school policies and under the direction of the Head Teacher.

Skills & Experience Required At Portmoak Primary School, we are looking for a Primary Support Worker who is flexible, proactive and committed to helping children thrive in a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school community. As a small rural school, positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting children's learning, wellbeing and participation, helping every child feel valued, safe, included and ready to learn.

We are seeking someone who will: Have experience of working with children in an educational, childcare or similar setting, including children who require additional support with learning, communication, regulation or wellbeing. Demonstrate a caring, calm and nurturing approach, helping children feel safe, understood and supported throughout the school day. Support children's learning, independence, confidence and resilience, both in class and during wider school routines such as transitions, playtimes and lunchtimes.

Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues, contributing to the welcoming ethos of our school. Communicate effectively and sensitively, sharing relevant information with teaching staff and working collaboratively to meet children's needs. Work well as part of a supportive team, responding positively to direction while also using initiative when appropriate. Be adaptable and practical, supporting pupils across different stages, settings and routines within a busy primary school environment.
