Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blackburn Location: Blackburn Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday We are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Blackburn. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is non-verbal and has high Special Educational Needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the child's learning, communication, emotional wellbeing, and daily care within a structured and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day. Support a non-verbal child with ASD to access learning and engage in classroom activities. Deliver personal care with dignity, sensitivity, and professionalism.
Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans. Promote communication using appropriate strategies and resources. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider multidisciplinary team to meet the child's individual needs. Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Essential Requirements: Previous experience supporting children with SEMH , ASD , and complex Special Educational Needs.
Experience working with non-verbal children. Confidence and willingness to provide personal care. A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
