SEN Specialist Location: Rochdale Contract: Temp/perm Full time/Part time: Full time Pay: £105-£120 per day Start date: ASAP Expected End date: Long term ongoing until the end of the academic year A welcoming and supportive SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Specialist to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs, supporting each child to reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting pupils with additional needs, working closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised academic, social and emotional support throughout the school day. Key responsibilities: • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs • Supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs • Adapting activities and learning to meet individual pupil needs and abilities • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships • Supporting the implementation of EHCPs, individual learning plans and behaviour strategies • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff • Maintaining a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment What the school offers: • A welcoming and supportive specialist SEN setting • A highly experienced and collaborative staff team • Ongoing opportunities for professional development and training • A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs • Long-term work within a supportive school environment This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to grow and develop in the classroom, while gaining valuable experience within a specialist SEN setting.

The successful applicant will: • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs • Have experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs • Be calm, patient, resilient and proactive • Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team • Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability • Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable) • SEN-related qualifications or training (desirable) • PECS, Makaton, BSL, AAC or de-escalation training (desirable) What we offer Free access to CPD and safeguarding training Dedicated consultant and ongoing support Long-term opportunities within our partner schools Compliance and safeguarding: This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2026) guidance and safer recruitment standards.
