SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN School Location: Worthing Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday Start Date: ASAP Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience The Role Teaching Personnel are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary SEN school in Worthing . This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to work within a nurturing, specialist environment where every child is supported to reach their potential.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils throughout the school day, helping them to engage with learning, develop their independence and build positive relationships. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN Supporting children to access learning and classroom activities Helping pupils develop communication, social and independence skills Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils Providing a calm, safe and nurturing environment Following individual support plans and strategies Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom Working closely with teachers and other members of the school team Encouraging confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Caring, patient and compassionate Passionate about supporting children with additional needs Calm and consistent in their approach Confident building relationships with children Resilient and adaptable A strong communicator and team player Able to follow individualised strategies and provide consistent support Enthusiastic about helping children achieve their potential Previous experience working with SEN, autism, complex needs, behavioural needs or within a specialist school would be beneficial.
However, transferable experience from childcare, youth work, care, support work or similar settings will also be considered. Why Apply?
