Senior Application Engineer LS Energy Solutions, a global provider of energy storage solutions is currently seeking a Senior Application Engineer. The Controls Engineer will deliver solutions that meet all product technical, quality, and reliability requirements. He/she will develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and provide automated production solutions for LS Energy Solutions Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The Senior Applications Engineer will be responsible for BESS & Grid-Tie Inverters sits at the intersection of technical design, commercial pre-sales, and site execution. This role acts as the technical subject matter expert (SME) bridging customers, sales teams, and core engineering to size, integrate, and deploy utility-scale or C&I energy storage solutions onto the electrical grid. Work Hours & Flexibility · 40 Hours/week, full-time · Up to 20% travel to project sites · In person in the office Work Location · Charlotte, NC Job Responsibilities Execute functional, performance, thermal, and dynamic grid-support testing on utility-scale and C&I grid-tie inverters and Power Conversion Systems (PCS).
Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and firmware validation to verify inverter control algorithms, fault ride-through capabilities, power quality (THD), and protection response. Develop test plans, setup test rigs, evaluate test data, and author validation reports for pre-commissioning and product design improvements. Certification & Compliance Support Lead technical preparation and on-site support for third-party listing certifications (UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547.1, UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, and grid code compliance).
