And together, we will redefine success.Department purpose and structureThe Senior Assistant Managing Clerk is responsible for service and filing of legal papers, monitoring and retrieval of documents and information from the courts, docketing court filings and other litigation documents and calendaring related deadlines, and researching and answering questions concerning procedural issues and court rules.Role and responsibilitiesOversee and coordinate service of process, pleadings and other legal documentsFile pleadings and other documents in court (conventionally or electronically) according to established firm and court procedures and within communicated deadlines, serving as a resource on court filing requirements and best practicesOpen and close cases and maintain caseteams current in the CourtAlert and CompuLaw case management systems, ensuring data integrity and adherence to departmental standardsReview and docket pleadings and other litigation documents in the CourtAlert and CompuLaw case management systems; compute and calendar associated deadlines based on all applicable rules, including independently analyzing and resolving complex procedural and calendaring issuesPrepare weekly calendar and case reports from CourtAlert and CompuLaw, and assist in identifying risks and potential docketing issuesConduct court-related research and provide recommendations regarding court procedures, local rules and filing requirementsAdvise attorneys and paralegals regarding electronic filing procedures and protocols and communicate with them about court filings and service of documents; review documents for proper form and compliance with applicable rules prior to filingArrange for delivery of courtesy copies to judges and other court personnelRequest information from outside court service agencies Respond to requests to retrieve court dockets and documents and assist with addressing complex court record and procedural inquiriesCommunicate and develop working relationships with court personnel regarding court procedures and related questions and serve as a point of contact for resolving filing and procedural issuesAssist with requests for court forms, templates and precedentsMaintain current database of attorney e-filing usernames and passwords and assist with creating and maintaining attorney e-filing accountsAssist with attorney admissions (including pro hac vice) in various federal and state courtsArrange for notarizations and legalization of documents (apostilles)Assist with miscellaneous Managing Attorney's Office projects, as neededLead or participate in special projects, workflow improvement initiatives and departmental process enhancement effortsKnowledge, skills & attributesKnowledge of court procedures, service requirements and filing requirements, with particular expertise in California federal and state court rules and proceduresPrior e-filing, doc
