This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical/manufacturing engineering professional who enjoys working close to production and translating complex engineering requirements into practical, executable manufacturing solutions.

The successful candidate will play an integral role within the Fabrication Engineering team, converting customer and design requirements into production-ready fabrication packages while working closely with Production, Quality, Procurement and Engineering. The Opportunity The Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Mechanical will bridge the gap between engineering design and shop-floor execution. You will be responsible for developing and releasing fabrication drawings, material bills of materials, manufacturing sequences, ERP routings and production orders while supporting tooling, fixtures, equipment selection and manufacturing process improvements.

This is a hands-on engineering position suited to someone who understands how components are actually manufactured and can identify and resolve manufacturability challenges before they affect production. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret customer design specifications, fabrication specifications and technical requirements Identify and resolve design ambiguities and manufacturability constraints early in the project lifecycle Provide real-time engineering support to resolve fabrication and production challenges Develop, review and release general arrangement and detailed fabrication drawing packages Ensure fabrication packages are technically accurate, complete and ready for production Develop and maintain accurate material Bills of Materials (BOMs), including material specifications and piece-part processing requirements Work closely with Procurement regarding material requirements, supplier capabilities and sourcing considerations Participate in design and manufacturability reviews for new and existing products Apply Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly and Design for Inspection principles Recommend practical design alternatives that improve manufacturability, quality, cost, safety and production efficiency Develop manufacturing routings, fabrication sequences and operation requirements in collaboration with Production Create and maintain production orders, ERP BOMs and manufacturing routings Develop QC inspection requirements and support appropriate in-process inspection parameters Design jigs, fixtures and tooling to improve safety, quality, efficiency and manufacturing repeatability Evaluate fabrication methods and manufacturing capabilities based on cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements Support equipment and tooling selection for manufacturing operations Participate in plant equipment and machine design associated with capital and operational improvement projects Perform tolerance stack-up studies, fit-up evaluations and assembly interference assessments Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing operations Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related mechanical engineering discipline 7+ years of relevant engineering experience combining mechanical design/CAD with practical manufacturing or fabrication experience Experience within a heavy fabrication, industrial manufacturing, engineered equipment or similar production environment strongly preferred C.E.T.

or EIT designation considered an asset Strong hands-on SolidWorks and PDM experience Strong understanding of mechanical drafting and fabrication drawings Demonstrated understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Inspection (DFI) Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, forming, coa
