Senior Systems Engineer, C2 Networking, Edge Compute and Communications

The company is seeking a systems engineer to enable command-and-control capabilities for unmanned aerial systems through resilient network design. The role involves deriving system, subsystem and component level requirements, designing and maintaining system components that meet functional and performance requirements in complex environments, and conducting thorough testing and debugging to ensure reliability, scalability and resilience, particularly in distributed systems.

The engineer works closely with hardware engineers and product managers to integrate software and hardware seamlessly, and collaborates with the team to define and document software engineering processes and practices. The position supports the development of next-generation flight vehicles, from simulation and rapid prototyping through production and sustainment across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities Enable UAS C2 capabilities through resilient network design Derive system/subsystem/component level requirements Design, develop, and maintain system components that meet functional and performance requirements in complex system environments Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the reliability, scalability, and resilience of software applications, especially within a distributed systems context Work closely with hardware engineers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components Collaborate with the team to define and document software engineering processes and practices, ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements Requirements A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture, and a passion for systems development, integration, and testing 8+ years experience as a network engineer that highlights your ability to execute complex engineering level tasks as an individual and part of a team Expert level knowledge of multicast and supporting protocols IGMP & PIM Expert level knowledge of unicast and supporting protocols OSPF & BGP Experience with end to end testing of both unicast and multicast data flows Experience with Quality of Service and CBWFQ Advanced knowledge of Linux based operating systems Hands on experience with networking design, test and operation of communications systems for Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) Proficiency in test script development using common languages (Python, Matlab etc) Excellent verbal & written communication skills Must hold a U.S.

Secret security clearance Ability to travel domestically up to 50% as needed to support various efforts, and excitement to work onsite at our headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA the majority of the time!
