The CTO team provides central leadership and coordination across Home Office Digital, setting direction and enabling delivery at scale. In this role, you will work closely with delivery teams, architects, engineers and senior stakeholders to turn agreed priorities into executable plans, track progress, surface risks early, and keep delivery moving across organisational boundaries. This is a hands‑on delivery leadership role, focused on orchestrating work across teams rather than owning a single product or programme.
You will be comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and supporting multiple delivery streams to land outcomes in a fast‑moving environment. Operating across the digital and technology landscape, you will help ensure delivery activity is well‑coordinated, transparent and outcome‑focused, while enabling teams to navigate governance and assurance processes effectively. You will work closely with architect professionals and support cross‑organisational delivery by enabling effective governance, assurance and decision‑making across portfolios, helping ensure that architecture, strategy and delivery are aligned. This is a high‑impact role suited to someone who enjoys operating in complexity, influencing across boundaries, and turning strategic intent into practical, deliverable outcomes.
You will work across multiple programmes and initiatives, you will coordinate delivery efforts end‑to‑end, managing dependencies and sequencing to ensure progress against critical timelines. You will operate comfortably across organisational boundaries to keep delivery aligned and moving. Take responsibility for delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching teams in using the most appropriate methodologies in complex, ambiguous situations. Facilitate structured approaches to problem-solving and competing user needs, continuously improving processes and performance. Support Architecture Communities of Practice (CoP), by helping to coordinate activity, clarify outcomes and maintain delivery momentum.
Create and maintain realistic plans, keeping delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints. Remove blockers to success, managing stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate. Develop motivated, functioning teams, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback. Monitor the profile and health of teams and work with them to resolve issues.
