Senior Vascular Technologist – Full-Time | Massachusetts Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire Vascular Ultrasound | Hospital-Based | IAC-Accredited Vascular Laboratory A major academic medical center located in Massachusetts, approximately one hour from Worcester, is seeking an experienced Senior Vascular Technologist to join its vascular laboratory team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced vascular ultrasound professional who is ready to take on a senior clinical and technical role.
The ideal candidate will have extensive vascular ultrasound experience, strong technical expertise, and the ability to mentor other sonographers while maintaining high standards for image quality, patient care, and laboratory performance. Schedule Full-time, permanent position 40-hour workweek Hospital-based vascular laboratory On-site position Schedule details to be discussed during the interview process Shift requirements may vary based on departmental needs Duties & Responsibilities Perform a comprehensive range of non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations.
Perform carotid, arterial duplex, venous duplex, transcranial Doppler, renal artery, arterial physiology, and vein-mapping studies. Prepare patients for vascular examinations and explain procedures clearly. Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination orders. Position patients appropriately for diagnostic examinations. Operate vascular ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation. Evaluate examinations for technical quality, accuracy, and completeness. Obtain additional images and measurements when appropriate. Serve as a clinical and technical resource for vascular sonographers. Mentor and support sonography staff and contribute to their professional development. Provide guidance regarding vascular imaging protocols and technical procedures.
Monitor examination quality and ensure studies meet established laboratory standards. Participate in quality-assurance and quality-improvement initiatives. Assist with vascular laboratory accreditation activities. Support education and training for sonography students and physician residents. Collaborate with vascular surgeons, cardiologists, neurologists, physicians, fellows, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate patient and examination documentation. Follow established patient-safety, infection-control, and departmental procedures. Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and professional standards. Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements. Participate in continuing education and professional development. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment.
Perform additional vascular sonography responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 4–5 years of vascular ultrasound experience required. ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification required, or ability to obtain registry within the required timeframe. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Vascular Technology, Ultrasound, or a related allied health/science field required.
Accredited vascular ultrasound education/certificate required when applicable. Proficiency performing a full range of non-invasive vascular examinations. Experience operating vascular laboratory equipment. Strong understanding of vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, protocols, and image optimization. Leadership, mentoring, or quality-assurance experience preferred. Strong computer, documentation, and report-generation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
